SOP - White Wood Finishing

Proper White Wood Sanding ensures that the finish being applied will have good adhesion, uniform stain color and the desired look intended for the finished part. The following guide is designed as a starting point for sanding procedure. Final grit selection may be changed to meet specific application requirements.

Mirka Abrasives recommends the Unique or Best product for these applications. To customize your SOP, click the color coded box to choose the Good/Better/Best/Unique product for each step.

Complete the sanding steps until the surface has a smooth, uniform finish with a P240 grit abrasive.

Lightly sand the edges of the part. The sanding process has created sharp edges. Smoothing or "easing" these edges will allow the finish to maintain a uniform film thickness for proper adhesion and appearance.
